Post 12 - Trip to Hokkaido, Japan

I'm finally back blogging after so long, went on hiatus as I was really busy with so many things. Finally, being able to spare out some time in the night to blog about my trip. Well, from the title of this post, all of you should already know where have I been to, it was just a short 7 days vacation to. However, it was the most memorable trip ever with so many first times over there alongside those breath taking scenery!!

Let's just start off with some facts I learnt of that beautiful place. Hokkaido is actually 120 times bigger than Singapore with 11 airports just in it. Of course, with just a big piece of land, there will be many other sub cities, like Sapporo is the second largest city in Hokkaido and Chitose airport is the airport we alighted in Hokkaido. When we got there, the entire place had already been covered with snow with temperature of around 8 DC (if I didn't remember wrongly). The ground we stepped on was absolutely slippery, we had to walk so slowly just in case we fall.

DAY 1
So when we reached, the first place we go will be to a local japanese restaurant to have our lunch first

before heading to Sapporo Mitsui Outlet Park Outlet Mall. Over there, there are lots of different international brands that are selling at reasonable prices.

Thereafter, we proceed on to Otaru, to be visiting the Otaru Orgel Doh, which houses the "Otaru Music Box Musuem" Which means there are many different kinds and all types of music box inside. There are really nothing much about it, so I didn't snap any pictures.

Last, we went to this place called the Otaru Canal  to take some photos.

After Otaru Canel, we headed to our hotel for the first night, Sapporo Tokyo Dome hotel . & I can't really remember what we did in the hotel already. It's either we went for onsen (Hot Bath) or we went to sing Karaoke that's being provided in the hotel with a few other for leisure activities.

DAY 2
We had to wake up really early in the morning to have our breakfast that's being provided in the hotel as well, if I did not remember wrongly and then prepare to head out and carry on our second day's activities, which is to Ski, Snowmobile and Snow tubing @ this particular main resort called Rusutsu Resort. & that is the best accommodation we can ever get in Hokkaido, Japan by far. This resort is one of the prominent large all-season resorts. There is a Ski area located with it with a total sliding distance of 42km and has 37 different courses. In the resort, there will also be facilities like shopping mall, heated swimming pool, game center, big bathroom and various restaurants and many more!!! After our lunch, we will experiencing our long awaited, exciting activities. First, we will be riding on the snowmobile with either the single rider or double rider of your choice. So, me and my mom decided to go for the double rider so we can take turns to drive each other. Definitely a brand new experience riding a vehicle on snow, having to control it ourselves too but of course with safety helmets on and professionals around to guide us.

If only I can upload some videos to share but unfortunately, there's some error with uploading it.
After this, we proceed on to snow tubing, which is pretty simple, just sitting on the tube, being pushed down the "not so steep" slope just enjoying the cold air brushing through your face, that's all. This is how it looks like,

Snow mobile :)
 Snow tubing :)

Skiing :)
Later in the night, we finally get to relax and chill at their so called Rusutsu-no-yu (Rusutsu spa). Which is like natural hot springs.

DAY 3
Spending half a day more in the Rusutsu Resort around the area, self-exploring. After that, we will then be going to the Bear Ranch and to Mount Showa, which is an interesting land form that was raised from a farmland after two years of volcanic activities.
 location; bear ranch :)

Mount Showa :)
After the whole day looking at bears, feeding them etc, we head back to our hotel for the night Toya Mansekaku, which has probably the best onsen by far with really comfortable off sheltered onsen.

DAY 4
After breakfast in the hotel, we proceed to the Noboribetsu Date Jidai Mura. From this attraction, we will be watching some performances related to the traders, warriors, feudal lord, a princess etc of the Edo period as well as performances from the ninjas. The ninja performance was the best of all, it was exciting, all their actions were so surreal even their slow motion movements. It is like as if you are watching on a tv screen. Unfortunately, I was too engrossed into it, I forgot to tape down videos or snap any images but I do have some photos of that beautiful place.
Probably the only photo I have at that place :(
Then we headed to Hell Valley, also known as Jidokudani, which stinks like literally hell, or probably even an understatement describing it as just stinky. Here are a few photos:

After that, we go to this particular village Shiraoi Ainu Village to get a better picture of the Ainu lifestyle through the display of their precious heirlooms and household utensils, traditional embroidery and weaving. Continuing our day to Noboribetsu Mansekaku Hotel for onsen. Yes, again. We had onsen almost everyday.

DAY 5
This day, we headed off early morning to Sapporo Nijo fresh seafood market. Passing by the Odori Park with a magnificent view of Sapporo TV Tower, best known as NHK Tower. Then right after, we will be passing by Tokeidai Clock Tower this Russian style monument that was built in 1878, which looks like the Paris Tower. Not to miss out this shopping time at the Sapporo underground shopping, Sapporo station shopping arcade (including Daimaru). Basically, it's just shopping right, so no photos of it and sadly I got nothing from the malls, nothing really caught my eye.

After which, we will be proceeding to the Ishiya chocolate factory.

Last location of the day will be to the Susukino Hokkaido's famous "night life" district for some shopping before we head back to the hotel, Chitose Air Terminal hotel to rest. Bought lots of mask and facial products as well as some Hokkaido's popular delicacies.

DAY 6
Last day, definitely not being able accept that we are coming back to Singapore so quickly already. Honestly, I had so much emotions in me, mixed feelings when we are on the way to the Airport. So many things that I'm gonna miss, like the culture, food (although not so amazing), japanese people, the places that I have been to as well as the tour people that we have been hanging everyday. Definitely some emotions but we still have to accept and come back to reality as much as I did not want to. Will be going back again. :')

Sorry about this really lengthy post but good thing is, there are photos along the way to keep ya all entertain, hope you know better about my trip and about Hokkaido, Japan. Trust me, it is a really beautiful place.

Thank you for having the patience and read on. :)
